Wetlands of British Columbia: Field Guide to Indicator Species for Wetland Classification

Image

Wetlands are a major focus of conservation efforts. Why are wetlands so important?

Wetlands are among Earth’s most productive ecosystems and support many species (including species at risk) and significant numbers of migratory birds, fish and amphibians.

This “Wetlands of British Columbia: Field Guide to Indicator Species for Wetland Classification” was recently produced by the BC Wildlife Federation, to help identify species and help classify different types of wetland. This guide should help with your plant identification as you venture out into BC’s wetlands, marshes, bogs and fens. It is meant as a companion guide to “Wetlands of British Columbia: A Guide to Identification“.

This project was supported through the Healthy Watersheds Initiative, which is delivered by the Real Estate Foundation of BC and Watersheds BC, with financial support from the Province of British Columbia.
