This guide is intended to inform Indigenous governments of an overview of Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial legislation for the creation of protected areas and parks. Providing potential pathways for reaching agreements, this guide is a tool for Indigenous governments that are interested in advancing Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) through the Canadian legal system.
